Episode 6. We’re Having a Second Child (3)

During the day, they diligently splashed around in the swimming pool.

And at night, they ate dinner at the buffet restaurant inside the resort, watching the sunset.

“Oh my goodness. It’s so beautiful!”

Min Seung-yeon didn’t let go of her smartphone all day, seemingly captivated by the entire resort hotel, from their room to the swimming pool and the buffet restaurant.

Even now, she was diligently adjusting the angle, trying to capture a photo of her family eating together with the sunset as a backdrop.

“If I had known this would happen, I should have brought a selfie stick.”

She stretched her arm out diligently, but no matter what she did, the angle Min Seung-yeon wanted didn’t come out well.

At this moment, Kang Dae-oh briefly called over a male staff member who happened to be passing by.

“Excuse me. I’m sorry to bother you, but could you please take a picture for us?”

“Yes, of course. Leave it to me. Even though I may seem like this, I’m famous among the staff here for taking good pictures.”

“Oh, really? Then, we’d appreciate your help.”

The male staff member, who received the smartphone from Min Seung-yeon, positioned himself to capture the three family members in the camera.

“One, two… three!”

Click!

“I’ll take one more. Madam, Sir. Please smile brightly like a baby!”

Kang Yera, who was more natural than anyone else in front of the camera, was already maintaining a smile fit for a photoshoot.

Following the male staff member’s instructions, the couple also smiled widely.

Click once again!

“Yes, great! Here, please check it.”

“Oh my! You really take good pictures as you said.”

“I get a lot of requests from guests here to take pictures. If you need me later, please call me anytime.”

The male staff member gave a short bow and then continued on his way.

Min Seung-yeon looked down at the family photo saved on her smartphone and wore a pleased expression.

“This resort hotel is so nice. All the staff are friendly.”

“Indeed. This is all thanks to our Yera. Right?”

“Thank you. Thanks to our daughter, Mom feels really good.”

If Mom and Dad could be happy. Kang Yera was willing to share all the resort information she knew.

Kang Yera said, holding a small rice ball in her hand.

“If there are better places, I’ll let you know.”

“I’ll be looking forward to it.”

Kang Dae-oh also had high expectations for Kang Yera’s unopened bundle of future knowledge.

Among them, what interested him the most was, as expected.

It was the story about the second and third children who would be born later.

Just then, Min Seung-yeon left her seat, saying she would briefly go to the restroom and come back.

Using this opportunity, Kang Dae-oh directly asked Kang Yera about the second and third children.

“Yera. Are you on good terms with your siblings? No. Should I ask, ‘were you on good terms?’”

Because currently, her siblings haven’t even been born yet.

Despite it being a future event, asking in the past tense is also a bit strange.

The question itself was full of contradictions.

Due to Kang Yera’s special situation, there was nothing he could do.

Still, Kang Dae-oh’s true intention of what he wanted to ask Kang Yera seemed to have been conveyed as is.

“Hmm…”

Unlike his expectation, Kang Yera showed a contemplating expression instead of an answer in the form of ‘yes’.

Kang Dae-oh was greatly flustered by his eldest daughter’s unexpected reaction.

“Don’t tell me. Were you on very bad terms with your siblings?”

This would be problematic.

Kang Dae-oh wanted to cherish the existence of family.

He hoped his family members would show a strong bond, but.

This reaction from Kang Yera was an action completely contrary to Kang Dae-oh’s expectations.

Kang Yera would naturally know her dad’s wish.

So, she fell into contemplation about whether or not to speak honestly.

Barely escaping from the swamp of deep thought, she difficultly opened her mouth.

“Honestly, I wasn’t on good terms with Yebin.”

“Yebin? Don’t tell me… is that the second child?”

Kang Dae-oh couldn’t possibly know who the second and third children to be born later were.

Because they were children from another timeline whom he had never met.

Nevertheless, Kang Dae-oh immediately realized she was the second daughter just by hearing the name Kang Yebin.

There was a reason.

“If we have a second child, I was thinking all by myself that I should name her ‘Kang Yebin’.”

So, when Kang Yera mentioned the name ‘Kang Yebin’, it honestly gave him such goosebumps that he almost screamed.

He knew that Kang Yera was a regressor from the future, but whenever the things he had thought about all by himself in his mind, without telling anyone, flowed out through Kang Yera’s mouth, he couldn’t help but be startled.

Kang Yera nodded her head, indicating that Kang Dae-oh’s words were correct.

“Yes, that’s the second child.”

“With the second child… why?”

“It was just a personality difference.”

Kang Dae-oh knew.

He knew that when it’s ambiguous or difficult to point out something specifically, people express it evasively with the phrase ‘personality difference’.

Primarily, you can often hear this type of answer from divorced couples.

Even if it’s his own child, privacy exists.

So, Kang Dae-oh decided not to press Kang Yera about what she didn’t want to specify.

“Then, Yera, do you not want Mom and Dad to have a second and third child?”

“…”

Kang Yera kept her mouth shut for a moment.

However, the time for contemplation wasn’t long.

“No. Still, they are my siblings. Of course, it’s good to have them. I don’t want to erase the children who will be born from this world just because of my greed.”

It was a mature answer, difficult to come from a 2-year-old child.

Kang Dae-oh slowly nodded his head.

“That’s right, it’s a good thought.”

“And I also have a method.”

“What method?”

“From the moment they’re born, I just need to thoroughly educate them to be loyal to unnie’s words. Isn’t that right?”

The thought, ‘Shouldn’t that be called ‘assistant’ rather than ‘education’?’ almost slipped out of Kang Dae-oh’s mouth.

‘Yera’s words aren’t wrong.’

But what if.

Really, what if.

‘What if the second and third children also regressed like Yera…?’

Then Yera’s early education project would go down the drain.

‘That’s unlikely.’

With Kang Yera alone, a sufficiently miraculous thing has already happened.

For that miracle to happen consecutively is close to impossible.

Anyway. Since he now clearly knew that Kang Yera wanted her siblings to be born.

Now, they just needed to have the ‘moment of truth (?)’.

Just because he got Kang Yera’s consent didn’t mean everything was resolved.

Because the consent of the most important person was still remaining.

“Honey.”

“Huh? Why?”

Min Seung-yeon, who was playing with Kang Yera for a moment, turned her head and asked at her husband’s call.

Kang Dae-oh pointed to the open bar near the swimming pool, visible beyond the window near the veranda.

“Shall we have a drink, just the two of us, after a long time?”

“Just the two of us? What about Yera?”

Kang Dae-oh and Kang Yera exchanged glances.

Kang Yera, who nodded her head slightly, suddenly put on a sleepy act.

“…Mom. I’m sleepy…”

“Huh? Suddenly? Just until a moment ago, you were playing so much fun with Mom. Your eyes were sparkling too.”

But now, with half-closed eyes, she was looking up at Mom.

The thought, ‘Do future idols need to have that level of acting skills as a basic?’ arose in Kang Dae-oh’s mind.

There was no need to forcibly hold onto a sleepy child and continue playing with them.

Helplessly, Min Seung-yeon held Kang Yera and moved towards the small room.

“Our daughter, sleep well. I love you.”

Min Seung-yeon kissed Kang Yera’s small forehead with a ‘chu!’

After closing the door so that Kang Yera could sleep comfortably.

Min Seung-yeon, in light clothing, looked for the slippers placed near the front door.

Then Kang Dae-oh asked with an ‘just in case’ expression.

“Are you going out just like that?”

“Yes. Why?”

“It’s chilly in the evening. Just a moment.”

Kang Dae-oh took off the outer jacket he was wearing and put it on Min Seung-yeon.

Min Seung-yeon’s face flushed slightly.

“What, suddenly.”

“It’s not ‘suddenly’. It’s natural for a husband to take care of his wife.”

“…Ugh, really.”

Still, as if she didn’t dislike Kang Dae-oh’s attention, Min Seung-yeon’s lips subtly curved upwards.

Just before going out.

Min Seung-yeon looked towards the room where Kang Yera was sleeping and expressed her worry.

“But what if Yera wakes up in the middle and cries, asking where Mom and Dad went?”

Going out and leaving a two-year-old child alone at home is naturally an action that parents would be reluctant to do.

However, this is only a story that applies to ordinary two-year-old babies.

Kang Yera is an exception.

But the one who knew this fact was only Kang Dae-oh.

So he tried to reassure her through persuasion.

“Don’t worry. Yera, once she falls asleep, she sleeps soundly until morning, you know that well too. She’s never woken up in the middle and cried.”

“Well, that’s true, but… Still, if she sleeps in an unfamiliar environment instead of home, you never know.”

“It’s okay. If you’re not reassured, I’ll go set that up and come back.”

“That?”

“I mean the home cam. I brought it just in case.”

If you place the home cam in the desired spot, you can watch anytime, anywhere with your smartphone.

“If Yera wakes up and cries, you can just see this and immediately come back to the room. We’ll be nearby anyway. Even if we walk around, it’s inside the resort, so we can come back quickly. Right?”

“That’s true…”

Her husband’s words became more persuasive the more she listened.

In the end, Min Seung-yeon decided to follow Kang Dae-oh’s words.

Thud.

The hotel room door closed firmly.

At the same time.

Creak.

As the slightly open door of the small room moved, Kang Yera came out into the living room again.

“Finally, freedom—!”

She got to fully enjoy freedom for the first time in her two-year-old life.

The two arrived at the open bar.

Despite it being peak season, perhaps because the resort hotel itself wasn’t well-known, there weren’t many people.

Therefore, it was rather good from Kang Dae-oh and his wife’s perspective.

As there were no people, they could fully enjoy this open bar.

Not only the taste of the ordered cocktail, but also the interior of the place, the fruit platter, and even the jazz music playing.

Everything brought great satisfaction to Min Seung-yeon.

“I remember that time.”

“What memory?”

“You and I. On the day we had been dating for a month, we went to a cocktail bar. There, honey, you drank so many cocktails that you got drunk. Do you remember?”

“Ah… that time? I remember.”

Kang Dae-oh has a strong tolerance for alcohol.

Nevertheless, he ended up getting drunk as he kept drinking low-alcohol cocktails.

Perhaps because it was the first time he drank alcohol after dating Min Seung-yeon, he was nervous and went for it without any limit.

“Do you know how much I struggled to take you home then, honey? I even worried, ‘Is this man really okay?’”

“If I had shown a uglier side there, it would have been a big problem.”

“Be grateful to broad-minded me.”

Min Seung-yeon chuckled with a ‘hoho’ sound, putting strength into her shoulders.

Although he had been seeing her for several years now.

Nevertheless, Kang Dae-oh still found this woman in front of him to be the most beautiful in the world.

And she looked the most lovely.

At the same time, he became curious.

How Kang Yera, and the two daughters who would be born in the future, would truly resemble their mother.

‘I hope their face and appearance only resemble Mom, not me.’

It was Dad’s small wish.

“Honey.”

Kang Dae-oh asked, handing her his cocktail glass.

“After a long time, shall we try to recreate the feeling of our dating days?”

At her husband’s proactive words, Min Seung-yeon contemplated for a moment then smiled shyly.

“Okay.”

She clinked her glass against Kang Dae-oh’s glass with a ‘clink!’
